Rachel Fisher began her journey
into holistic medicine in 1995 when she became
certified in Kripalu Bodywork at the Kripalu Center
in Lenox, MA. She then obtained her Associate
Degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling in New
York, and worked extensively with alcoholics and
addicts in a 28 day inpatient facility. Rachel
struggled with her own health issues of having
low immunity and a digestive disorder. She healed
these through a combination of a holistic lifestyle
and receiving treatments in Oriental Medicine.
Having had profound experiences with the life-force
Qi, Rachel was inspired to pursue an education
in Oriental Medicine. She received her Masters
of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Southwest
Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO. She fell in
love with how this modality of medicine was able
to address each person holistically and as an
individual with their own unique diagnosis.
In 2004, she established her
company Compassionate Medicine. Drawing upon her
extensive education and personal experience, she
helps patients to carry the healing benefits of
the treatments into their everyday life. She utilizes
acupuncture, chinese herbs, bodywork, food therapy
and education for lifestyle changes to treat her
patients. She treats a wide variety of ailments
with a gentle, compassionate style, and a genuine
ability to listen, which is rare in today's medical
world. She specializes in gynecological, gastrointestinal,
autoimmune disorders, and psycho-emotional disorders.
She also specializes in pain free techniques for
those who have sensitivity to needles and uses
needle-free techniques on children. She also practices
AMMA, a bodywork that focuses on the balance and
movement of energy (Qi) within the body.

"What I love about this medicine
is that it can treat the mind, body, and
spirit to move a person towards a height
of their evelopment. When these are in harmony,
there is health. There is so much untapped
potential in people. I want
you to thrive in your life experience."

I became a massage therapist because I believe
in the potential of therapeutic bodywork and want
to help people heal themselves. I've integrated
the extensive bodywork training I received at
the Boulder College of Massage Therapy into my
holistic practice to create a style of massage
that is extremely effective.
My basic approach is guided by what I have found
to be most helpful in my own life. I have been
a practitioner of holistic living for many years,
and I believe that eating whole healthy foods,
strengthening & stretching the mind & body and
living consciously in balance with nature is essential
to leading a happy and healthy life.
Prior to graduating from the Boulder College of
Massage Therapy in 2004, I attained Reiki level
I & II certifications in 1997, undertook Yoga
teacher trainings in 2000 and 2001 and completed
a Doula certification course for assisting women
in labor in 2004. Becoming a massage therapist
was the natural next step, and I'm delighted to
be able to offer my services to better your health.

"During a typical massage session,
I work slowly and deliberately so that I
am able to feel the muscles and intuitively
gauge places of sensitivity and tightness.
I appreciate client feedback to help me
understand what you're feeling and adjust
my technique appropriately. I integrate
many styles of massage, including deep-tissue,
myofacial release, trigger-point therapy,
and sports massage with swedish style strokes
while working with medium to deep pressure
for chronic or acute pain depending on the
client's needs. I believe it is also important
for people to experience regular massage
for health maintenance and preventative
reasons, thus I also perform prenatal, postpartum
and relaxing swedish massage. Very often
I will assign stretches so those clients
may become more involved in their healing
process in-between sessions, thus quickening
their desired results!
The health benefits of massage are many,
and I encourage you to make the commitment
to better your health and experience a massage
from me! "
